Growing up in a third-generation family business, I experienced first-hand both my grandfather and father’s deep passion for the Company, as well as the remarkable culture they inspired. And though I came to recognize that my own big dream was not to follow in their footsteps, I learned from them a simple yet profound lesson that continues to guide my work with BUILT TO LEAD; great leaders inspire others by being inspired themselves.
In 2007, after nearly a year as a BUILT TO LEAD client, I discovered my opus -- helping others discover theirs. As a builder, I draw upon the knowledge and perspective gained from more than 20 years in and around a family-owned, professionally managed company, and bring a keen insight into the unique challenges of multi-generation family businesses.
After graduating from Miami University, I worked on the Chicago Board of Trade before joining the family business, a national snack food manufacturer founded by my grandfather in 1936, where I now serve as Chairman. I have chaired university and foundation boards, led capital campaigns, and co-founded both a nationally acclaimed school for autistic children and a college access program for disadvantaged students. My wife Karen and I live in Dublin, Ohio with our delightful teenage twins.
